What A Start!

Been Busy. Work. And Play. Also School Reopened. Triple Busy. Parents Were Told No More School Fees. Yip Yip Hoooray! But Other Fees Awaited. Haaa! What? Many Grumbled. And More Protested. Education Minister Merajuk. Said The Government Has Subsidised Millions. Parents Very Ungrateful and Still In "Subsidy Mode". How To Move Forward, Like That?

The Thing Is, Wahai Datuk Minister, Why Bother Announcing The Removal Of School Fees Only To Replace It With Other "More Expensive" Fees. Fees Like Yuran Tandas Or Yuran MSSM. For The Record, My Daughters Never Ever Participated In Their School Sports Day Let Alone MSSM Event. And My Sister In Law (In Small Town Perak) Is Paying Significantly More For Her Son Than Us Here In KL. Why Like That? So Datuk Minister, No Need To Merajuk lah. Just Standardise The Whole System. We Pay. And The Election Is Coming, Kan?

So That's Basically The Start To My 2008. Nothing Exciting, Really. (And I Still Owe Pak Zabs A Tag). Anyway Happy New Year Again.

Salam Mior,
Yang mansuh RM4.50, yang kena bayar RM38.50 +++++. Tak payah hebuh lah patutnya kan Mior?

Pak Zawi said...

Mior,
They wanted to capitalise on any reduction however small even a miserly RM4.50. It was a real disappoinment. This minister is really a bonker now.

Salam Mior
Sending your children even to public schools can be a costly affair, yes?
What next after being asked to pay for, among other things, maintenance of school toilets and school halls?
On top of having to pay all these, your child will be asked to help raise funds through collection of money through walkatons or jogathons.
I read there a ceiling as to how much a parent should pay but most schools have exceeded that.
Still the minister said there is no need for guidelines as the fees are not compulsory.
Mind boggling!

Tok Doc,
And the best thing is these very people yang complain incessantly are the ones who would vote for the very same government back into office. Pelik! Tappi benar. Oh Malaysia

Mior Azhar said...

Salam Pak Zabs,
It should not be an issue in the first place pun. Apa lagi nak heboh sampai sekarang. Even before pun memang banyak yuran yang pelik2... cumanya I guess people felt cheated .... kata tak payah bayar tetapi timbul yuran2 lain yang aneh2 belaka. Tu aje.

Mior Azhar said...

Pak Zawi,
It's all a political move, from the very beginning. Itu aje.
Pak Zawi, bila lagi mau turun KL? Next time you must come to our place, okay?

Salam Fauziah,
Yeah, you are right... soon my daughters will bring in the jogathon donation card home and more often than not the teachers threaten them to bring back some pre determined amount (and its not minimal, mind you)... then there's kelas tambahan fees (in my case its RM300 for youngest who's taking UPSR this year), hari kebudayaan fees and so on. Aaaah! fenin.

This is affecting those families within the lower income brackets which generally have more school-going kids. Yang well-to do, selalunya anak tak ramai, and they can even pay thousands per child if they want pun!

Kalau nak pancing undi (which they are), punya la dungu strategi!) The government should pay for everything laaaa...Should subsidize school transportation fees some more, should give free food in school some more (NOT spoiled milk laaa...), should sponsor school uniforms, school bags segala some more. While they're at it, should give daily duit belanja to the kids some more.....

Why they are playing with that meagre RM4.50 AND burdening families with all the "hidden" extras?! Beats me...

Errr...saja nak rasa macam mana kalah election kot...

From day one when the budget was announced, bila sebut yuran sekolah mansuh, I dah sceptical dah. Even did a posting on that. Betullah seperti yang diduga. The only people who end up paying less are the rich people - because they no longer need to buy text books. Orang susah yang selama ni memang tak perlu beli text books terasalah kena bayar banyak; in fact lebih dari dulu.

So what they are doing now is helping the rich, not the poor. The allocation used to buy text books for the rich should have been used to pay for the poor children to buy workbooks, exercise books and whatever hidden fees charged by the schools.

Shana,
I'm at my wit's end memikiorkannya. My neighbour kat kampung , anak dah la ramai, kerja kampung jer and anak dia yang darjah satu pun bayar fees lebih mahal dari my daughter here in urban Subang Jaya. Macam mana tu?
Can't they just stanbdardised the whole damn thing.
Macam mana sekolah kampung can imposed such a high fees macam tu sekali? Heran....

Pi,
Ye laar! I didn't realise it that way. Hmm the classic case life is not fair situation ler ni. The rich gets richer and the poor stays even poorer.
